Solar Power

8th graders set up a solar cell to demonstrate alternative energy sources. They used the solar cell to charge up Mrs. Radle’s cell phone!

In Friday’s assembly Katelin, a student in the mentor room, shared an acrostic poem for the “T” in BEST.
“T” Treat others with the same level of respect of which you want to be treated.
“R” Respect – Show respect to everyone.
“E” Eaton students treat others with respect.
“A” All creatures deserve our respect.
“T” Treat yourself and others well. Everyone will benefit!
Grades 2/3 study life cycle of frogs

The 2/3 class continues to learn about life cycles in science. Beginning on March 20, students began observing and studying tadpoles as they learn about the life cycle of a frog.

The 5/6 and 2/3 grade social studies classes are creating a Power Point presentation. The 5/6 class chose a person who was an urban reformer during the Industrial Period in America. The 2/3 class students are creating their presentation on the three branches of our government.
Bicyclist George Hincapie with Danny R.

Pictured is one of our students, Danny (left), with well-known bicyclist George Hincapie (right), who was the only rider to assist Lance Armstrong in all seven of his Tour de France victories. Eighteen-year-old Danny is a member of the Iron Data Cycling Team and is currently ranked number two in Georgia in his age bracket by the Georgia Cup Organization. Danny enjoys participating in various bike races around the country.
Science class makes machines

The Eighth graders have displayed samples of simple machines. Each student brought in, built or drew a simple machine to demonstrate a concept for the class. They were very creative!
Grades 2/3 simulate airbags

The grade 2/3 science class modeled how airbags work to protect people. The demonstration consisted of tossing a hard-boiled egg on a fabric square. Dropping a few of the eggs demonstrated what happens when there is no protection. The fabric imitated the airbag, and the egg represented a person.
National Pi Day

On March 13 we celebrated National Pi Day (3.14 get it?) with Mrs. Radle’s famous flat Pi and a Happy Birthday Cookie for Albert Einstein, whose birthday falls on Pi Day. The science and math students collaborated on door decorations incorporating the Pi symbol and birthday cards for Albert!
