K-8 Program

K-8 students benefit from the 5:1 overall student-to-teacher ratio. This program nurtures young learners as they develop the building blocks for life. Teachers employ a spiraling and thematic approach to the curriculum which is designed to capitalize on students’ strengths and foster emerging skills. Students flourish in the multi-sensory classroom environment. The teachers emphasize the fundamentals of reading, writing, and arithmetic by employing a wide variety of resources. As the students mature, the expectations placed on them evolve to help them prepare for high school. Every effort is made to meet the needs of our students’ diverse learning styles and to help them become active, growing participants in their education.

In grades K-5 students are taught the writing process in incremental steps, leading them from basic sentence structure to a five-paragraph essay. Reading instruction incorporates phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

Composition in the Middle School expands upon the basics of the writing process and research skills. Students refine their communication skills through speaking, listening, reading, and writing on a daily basis.

Classroom instruction involves exploratory activities in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. Elementary Program instructors weave lessons across the curriculum to ensure that our young learners experience a more practical and in depth understanding of key concepts. Field trips expand learning beyond the classrooms.

Students enjoy organized, nurturing, and engaging physical education on our Sport Court. Activities are success-oriented with a focus on cooperation, skill development, and good sportsmanship.

Students develop an awareness of the world around them and their place in it. A sense of community, manners, and social skills are emphasized. All levels of success are celebrated.
