April 10, 2024 By Brian Uitvlugt 1 Comment

Alex Beach, PhD

Alex Beach entered Eaton Academy as a second grader in 2005. Six years later, in May of 2011, 12 year-old Alex received his high school diploma from Eaton and was accepted to North Georgia College and State University.

Determination in the Face of Adversity

Alex’s journey is a testament to resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Despite the challenges posed by Autism Spectrum Disorder, Alex’s unwavering commitment to his education propelled him to remarkable achievements. His early struggles with the public school system only served as a catalyst for his academic success at Eaton Academy.

Enrolling Alex in our Mentor Program and Independent Study Program, we were able to tailor his education to suit his unique learning style and intellectual abilities. Graduating from high school at the young age of 12 was just the beginning of his exceptional academic trajectory. His transition to the University of North Georgia and later to Georgia Tech showcased his brilliance and passion for learning.

Alex Earned His B.S. in Material Engineering at 17

Alex earned a Bachelor of Science in Material Engineering with a concentration in Bio Materials at the age of 17, exemplifying his dedication to pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations. His decision to delve into research and academia by pursuing a PhD in Bio Engineering further underscored his commitment to making a meaningful impact in the field.

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, Alex’s adaptability and innovation shone through as he pivoted his research to focus on developing a vaccine for the virus. This moment not only highlighted his scientific acumen but also his compassion and desire to contribute to the greater good.

Ultimately, Alex’s journey culminated in the winter of 2023 when he proudly received his doctorate at the age of 25.

Alex is an Inspiration

Alex’s story serves as an inspiration to all, reminding us that with determination, perseverance, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge, we can overcome obstacles and achieve greatness in our academic pursuits. Alex Beach stands as a beacon of hope and possibility for all those who dare to dream big and reach for the stars.

Alex Beach travelled where few young people his age have travelled before… His “road less travelled” was supported not only by his amazing family, but also by an academic setting that always encouraged him to reach for his star.
What a guy: Dr. Alex Beach.
