On Saturday, May 30, we held our graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020. Normally, graduation is part of our Evening of Celebration, an all-school event that we host at the Roswell Mill to honor our students of all ages. This year in deference to the need for social distancing and to host an event in the safest environment possible, we gathered with just our graduates, their families, and their teachers in front of our building at 9:00 in the morning.

Helping them to grow socially and emotionally and to advance academically is why Eaton Academy exists. Seeing our students laugh and learn brings joy to everyone on our staff.

As we all know, circumstances are not normal right now. Our hearts break knowing that we will not be able to celebrate the year-end achievements of all our students, particularly the seniors. Although we’ve had to cancel this year’s Evening of Celebration, we hope to have some type of graduation event for the seniors in June. And we’re using our Facebook page to share images and videos of our 2020 graduates doing “senior things”. Please check out this blog post!

Head of School Brian Uitvlugt spoke on air with the hosts of the Chuck & Chernoff Show on The Fan radio stations yesterday. The popular local sports talk station is doing its part to help local businesses and schools reach new audiences during the COVID-19 situation. Mr. Uitvlugt talked about the excellent use Eaton’s teachers and families are making of Eaton’s online platforms, and he discussed Eaton’s progress in having all programs ready for both in person and online sessions starting this summer. Eaton has implemented live video conferencing instruction for all programs as a way to keep learning going while we await our return to a physical school environment. We can also create these sessions for students from other schools to help them master the digital learning material provided by their schools, easing the stress at home.
