Under normal circumstances, this time of year should find us busy getting ready for our year-end Evening of Celebration. Teachers and administrators should be selecting the winners for departmental awards; seniors should be gathering for a group picture; breakfasts and lunches would be scheduled to honor the Class of 2020; and we should be working with seniors on their graduation speeches.
As we all are painfully aware, circumstances are not normal. As educators, our hearts break knowing that we will not be able to celebrate the year-end achievements of all our students, particularly the seniors. We do hope to have some type of graduation event for the seniors in June, and we hold similar thoughts about a year-end assembly for the rest of the school.
In an attempt to at least ease the pain brought on by the cancellation of our normal graduation events, seniors and their families have submitted videos and pictures of our graduates at home, doing “senior things.” These entries have been posted to our Facebook page. If you have not viewed these fun, crazy, poignant images, please click over to Facebook and view them now. (We will be updating this album — Eaton 2020 Graduates At Home — as we receive more photos and videos.) The posts are not the same as our Evening of Celebration, but they have made us feel a bit better! We hope they lift your spirits as well!
