On July 9 a news team from CBS46 visited Eaton Academy to do a story on our plans for fall. Rebekka Schramm and her crew spent almost two hours filming and interviewing staff members who spoke about our plans to provide in-person classes. The reason CBS46 came to Eaton is that we are one of the few schools ready to let news crews in and discuss protocols for COVID-19 and its impact on bringing students physically back to school.
During the interview, I stressed that our small class size and low student-to-teacher ratio uniquely enable us to offer social distancing in class, among other steps. Since we have space and place only a few students in each class, we can take measures in class and throughout the day to help students and staff feel comfortable about their health.
Additionally, depending on the numbers, we may be able to offer both in-person and online options in all of our various programs. Our staff in the K12 program, ISP, and Supported Employment did an excellent job serving students and participants online at the end of the school year.
