This year has been challenging, and that’s putting it mildly!
However, by staying true to the COVID plan we put in place at the start of the year, we have successfully navigated through three quarters of the 2020-21 school year. Our system of temperature checks, wearing masks, being mindful of social distancing, and thorough cleaning has enabled our students and staff to conduct “business as usual” with very few interruptions.
Of course, flexibility was also key to making it this far. Parents, teachers, students, and administrators have all bent over backwards and worked together, adjusting methods and schedules as needed. Some students were unable to attend school in person, so we made arrangements for them to take classes virtually. In the Independent Study Program (ISP), a few teachers’ health concerns required them to teach from home. We’ve had students here at school whose teachers taught the class online due to quarantine precautions. Almost every possible approach to education has been implemented in order to meet our students’ needs.
As we near the midpoint of second semester, matters seem to be running smoothly. Most of us have gotten used to wearing our masks and standing apart from each other. Our group classes are operating in-person, and our ISP sessions are available online and in-person. Several staff members have received their COVID vaccinations. We hope that the next few weeks bring more good news.
I want to thank each member of our Eaton Academy community for helping us make it this far!
