Students took a trip to the Roswell Recycling Center last week. The students sorted recyclable items into the proper bins, observed how paper/plastic products are sent up a conveyor belt and compressed into bundles, and saw an old washing machine forklifted into a container. Students also learned that used vegetable oil can be converted into diesel fuel, and plastic bottles can be made into carpet or clothes. After going to Chick-filet for lunch, students were able to burn off some energy at the outdoor play area. In class students have been studying recycling and the differences between renewable and nonrenewable resources. Each student has created a poster for reuse, reduce, and recycle.
