Congratulations to Hannah Jump, Class of 2024!
Hannah Jump has officially graduated from Eaton Academy and we couldn’t be more proud! Her dedication and hard work have paid off and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.
As she embarks on her next journey, we want to take a moment to celebrate all the memories and accomplishments she has made during her time at Eaton Academy. We know she will continue to shine and make a positive impact wherever she goes.
Here are the remarks Hanna shared at the Evening of Celebration:
When I was younger, I always thought that high school would be the highlight of my life. I thought I would be a great student, a great friend, a great teenager, and the best version of myself. When high school finally did come, I realized that people who peaked in high school only ever talk about high school for the rest of their lives. I also realized that it was absolutely amazing news that since high school was going horribly wrong for me, things could only get better.
As the years went on, the countdown to graduation started to feel longer. Going to summer school and switching schools in the storm of it all made me feel like I might never graduate at all. But then I came here to the wonderful place called Eaton Academy. The people here decided to take in a failing high schooler and make her feel like she could be a graduate, and for that I wanna thank all my teachers and the staff at Eaton for making me always feel welcome and like I wasn’t a failure even when I hadn’t done Mrs. Ejaife’s math homework for the 2nd time that week.
I also want to thank my family visiting me from out of town because I know you guys always root for me even from afar, and I can’t wait to see my graduation photos on Aunt Kim’s fridge. I also want to thank my friends here watching me graduate today for always keeping up with me in life even when I couldn’t keep up with myself. You always ask me to hang out even when the past 5 times I have said no.
I want to thank my brother for always calling me the most kind and endearing nicknames and humbling me, reminding that I am, in his opinion, as good a student as I am behind the wheel. I want to thank my Dad for being my math tutor, my biggest fan, the best dance partner, and never missing out on an opportunity to tell his coworkers that his daughter sang Jolene in the kitchen.
And lastly I want to thank my ultimate inspiration, ride or die. The dazzling woman from whom I received life, my mom Suzanne Jump. She will always be my best friend and my second biggest inspiration the only one coming in first above her being the man upstairs Jesus Christ, who I also want to thank because Lord knows I may not be a good student, but he still considers his design of me good and without my answered prayers I would not be who I am or where I am today. I will be forever grateful for that.
I promise I’m almost done . . .
Lastly I wanted to share a short 4 lines poem I wrote . . . one line for each year of my high school experience:
Freshman year it all went astray
Sophomore year was worse, so threw it all away
Junior year I came to Eaton, so I had a chance to play
Senior year yes, I’m graduating, but I’ll still see Ms. Ejaife on Monday!
