As an extension of our high school social studies curriculum, students toured the Federal Reserve and its Monetary Museum today. Led by Mr. Nolen and Ms. Jordan, the group spent two hours at the FED exploring the history of money, viewing interactive stations about the money supply, and examining a $100,000 bill and a $600,000 gold bar (27 pounds)!
Students also learned about counterfeiting and got to sit in the Boardroom of the Southeast District of the Federal Reserve System.
After the tour, students, staff, and parent volunteers lunched at Chic-Fil-A and returned to school.
Mr. Nolen would like to thank the following parents for driving on and chaperoning this instructive field experience: Eileen Garber, Jane Schmanske, Tasha Eire, Barb Lyon, and Doug Beighley.
