Lockers finally arrived a few weeks ago, and Middle School Pod Class Students have enjoyed decorating and organizing their belongings in their new space!
Last Friday students participated in our bi-monthly assembly. Ms. Hall’s and Mrs. Stickel’s students presented “B” in B.E.S.T- one of our character education themes. The 8th graders joined the high school students and discussed the importance of carefully choosing friends and making wise decisions when using social network sites. We also discussed upcoming events and shared cake with our August and September birthday students. Assemblies are always well received and students continue to be respectful and participate appropriately.
Our new lunch program gets underway on Wednesday, October 5. We had 129 orders submitted! I am planning to add a sub shop for the Nov/Dec orders. Order sheets for those two months will be emailed in the next several weeks. If you missed the deadline this time, feel free to order when the next form comes out. Also, thanks to all the parents for emailing and sending in checks in a timely manner!
We have several field trips planned for the months of October and November. Unfortunately, we have very few volunteer drivers. Several parents have not submitted driver forms letting us know whether or not they can drive. We are sending home another round of forms to several families confirming their status on driving. If you are able and willing to drive/chaperone on field trips, please sign the sheet and return it on Monday. If you are not able to drive, we understand and would like you to indicate that on the sheet instead of your driver’s information.
Teachers are busily writing narrative reports and calculating grades for our first formal conference. Parents and teachers will come together on Friday, October 14, to discuss the first quarter. Please look for the conference sheet in this week’s Friday Folder. Fill out your first and second time preferences and return the form to school next week. Teachers will send a confirmation slip back in the weekly folders. Conferences are 20 minutes in length. Please remember that we have early release at 12:30 on Thursday, October 13, and there will be no school for students on Friday, October 14, or Monday, October 17.
During the month of October, students will be participating in the Science Fair project. The majority of the writing, research, experiments/models, and creation of the boards are completed at school. Students may need to bring in a trifold display board and supplies for their project. Teachers will email additional information as needed.
Our 2nd annual Fall Festival will take place on Friday, October 28 during the latter part of the school day. We are planning activities and games in the afternoon (please no costumes). We are also bringing The Sand Art Cart where student will be able to exercise their creativity and bring home a keepsake.
This week I sent out an email about interest in a 2nd annual Fall Dance. Based on “yes” responses received so far, we are not planning to move forward with this event. If you are interested, and did not respond, please do so. We will make our final decision on Monday.
We have extended our shorts deadline by one month. Students are permitted to wear shorts through October 28.
Please remember to check us out on our Eaton Blog, Facebook and Twitter.
