K-8 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

The school year is off to a great start. Students are adhering to dress code regulations, arriving on time, and eager to complete assignments. Teachers are busily integrating new curriculum, technology, and accommodations daily. We thank all the parents for their continued support and patience as we enter our 4th week. Please feel free to email me at any time with questions (jgrant@eatonacademy.org). Consistent communication is one of the key elements in a successful educational experience.

Every other Friday students take part in a K-8 assembly. During these assemblies, we talk about upcoming events, occasionally have outside speakers/guests, and work on character education, which includes B.E.S.T. and W.O.W.

This Friday we discussed attributes and qualities that students should look for in friends. This exercise addressed the B in B.E.S.T. (Befriend only those who bring out the best in you). In addition we went through upcoming events, discussed grades, and alerted students about the reopening of our school store by the Young Entrepreneur’s Club. Our next assembly will take place on October 1st. During that assembly we will participate in a monthly b-day cake for the August and September birthdays along with our usual activities. If students have food allergies, please feel free to make them a special treat that day.

Enrichment activities have been underway for two weeks. Ms. Armstrong worked feverishly this summer to secure a number of offerings. Students will continue these offering throughout December. Please remember that if you missed this semester’s deadline, or students have shown interest in an offering, they will have the opportunity to join enrichment next semester.

On occasion Eaton’s main phone line has been down. During these situations, Eaton uses an emergency cell phone. This phone will only be turned on when the main phone is not working. The number is 404-444-5482. Please put this number in a safe spot.

We have several upcoming events taking place at Eaton in the next several weeks. Please continue to read individual teacher’s newsletters to keep up with classroom specifics. Below is a list of reminders:

  • Sept. 17:   Mid-quarter grades
  • Oct. 4:       Shorts can no longer be worn to school
  • Oct.  7:      Picture Day
  • Oct. 14:    Early Dismissal @ 12:30
  • Oct. 15:    Parent Teacher Conference: No School
  • Oct. 18:    Teacher Workday: No School

Thanks,

Jennifer
