A prime component of LEAP is on-site work experiences. The program facilitates practical job skills by arranging off-site work experiences at local business. LEAP partners with companies in several different industries, including retail stores, restaurants, animal care, and on-site work training. LEAP adds business partnerships periodically in order to offer an ever-widening variety of work sites that ensure a comprehensive training program for participants.
- Participants are given a variety of worksites to attend
- Worksites also include computer training, data entry, and keyboarding
- Participants rotate worksites throughout the week
- Transportation to and from worksites is provided
- Staff supervises and models on each worksite and operates within a 4:1 participant to staff ratio
- Participants’ skills and areas for improvement are identified, developed, and strengthened
- Proper customer service skills are taught and practiced
- Confidence and self-esteem are built and cultivated throughout the worksite experiences
