Dear Parents of High School Students:
It seems like only a few days ago we were talking about our summers and picking up our fall schedules at orientation! Three weeks have already passed, and we are at the end of our first grading period. Thank you again to all who attended our orientation; it really helps us get the year started smoothly.
Student surveys were posted in the hallways and the locker room for two weeks to determine interest in clubs and activities. The enthusiasm for continuing our Screamin’ Chinchillas Bowling Team was impressive, and permission forms will be coming home next week. We are also very close to reaching our minimum numbers for a Tennis Club; if your child has been considering tennis, yet didn’t sign the list, please let me know so that we can move forward and reserve some court time.
We also had an overwhelming response to our survey on the Key Largo Marine Lab trip in November. Thank you for returning these forms so quickly. We will be sending home more information regarding plans next week.
Lunch service starts today! Thank you to all families who participated this month, as every order you place helps maintain the program for all of the students. Please keep our sponsoring restaurants in mind for your evenings out, and let them know that you are an Eaton Academy family when dining there.
As we continue to make efforts to both improve efficiency and reduce our use of paper (and stamps), my newsletters will be posted here at least every three weeks. Please check here regularly for updates. I will also be using the group email format to send short reminders, so contact me if you are not receiving them.
Three-week grades will be uploaded to your parent portals this weekend. Remember that students with averages of 75 or above in each of their classes now qualify for 2:25pm dismissal Monday through Thursday. Help Session remains available on these days (and we encourage attendance), but it is only mandatory for students with ‘Incompletes’ or grades below 75 in any class. Students who have not achieved the 75 threshold for the first three weeks will be required to attend Help Session until the next three-week report is issued on October 1st.
Thank you for all of your communication and support, and as always, please stay in touch~
