To reach the rank of Eagle Scout, one must earn at least twenty-one merit badges and complete a special project. Our Eagle Scout Chandler actually earned twenty-eight badges and completed a landscaping project for Canine Assistants, an organization that trains service dogs, companion dogs, and seizure response dogs to assist children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs.
The project consisted of planting a tree line and landscaping to increase privacy from the neighborhood that was built next to the canine training facility. This landscaping also added beauty with low maintenance. A total of $1,170 was raised for the project which cost $620, so the remaining amount was donated to Canine Assistants to support the dogs. Over six months of planning went into the project along with 72 volunteer hours by 26 people.
In his years of scouting, Chandler has won numerous awards, including the Brotherhood of the Order of the Arrow this spring. We are very proud of Chandler’s accomplishments!
