When the calendar turns to June, it’s time to roll out our summer programming. In the strange world of today, we have had to make some adjustments to our usual bill of fare. This year we are offering all of our programs online. The summer options provide academic support, entertainment, life skills, and socialization.
Tutoring
Families may contact us to arrange for one-to-one tutoring sessions to address any areas of scholastic concern. These tutorials typically last an hour and occur several times each week on a schedule that fits the families’ needs. Email Brian Uitvlugt (brianu@eatonacademy.org) for more information.
Independent Study Program (ISP)
Students in ISP are meeting with instructors “face-to-face” online for their individually scheduled sessions. They may be completing courses from the 2019-20 school year or working ahead to ease their academic load for 2020-21. Each student’s schedule is designed to accommodate both vacations and summer jobs. Visit our ISP page and email Brian Uitvlugt (brianu@eatonacademy.org) for more information.
Virtual LEAP
As learning went online after the onset of COVID-19, our LEAP instructors created an excellent online version of their life skills and job support programming. They will continue to offer the five-hour day on a weekly basis. Virtual LEAP is a great opportunity for young adults to develop their social skills and their understanding of the employment world from the comfort of their own homes. Follow this link for more information.
Transition Couseling
Ms. Giacchino’s popular twice-weekly sessions will be offered in June and July. In them participants will be exposed to elements of independent living such as financial planning, cooking, managing domestic chores, and personal hygiene.
Job Development
Renee Ferrari, Eaton Academy’s Supported Employment Specialist, is offering online instruction and support for those individuals preparing to enter the job market. Online she provides instruction to prepare individuals for job interviews, resume writing, and appropriate interaction in the work place.
Summer Camps
Everybody needs a little fun in the summer, and Eaton’s summer camps offer several exciting opportunities to have fun virtually. Camps are supervised by Eaton staff members and meet at specific times online throughout June and July. Sign-up for one camp or enjoy them all! Click here for more information and to sign-up.
College Exploratory
Many students who have completed high school and intend to move onto college find themselves anxious and uncertain about taking that next big step. Eaton Academy’s College Exploratory program is designed to ease those feelings and help students sharpen their academic skills as they prepare for the college experience. Our Roswell Lakes Institute for Higher Education offers Accuplacer testing and tutorial support.
