The eighth grade GA history students had to generate a poster supporting the Sons of Liberty to be displayed in a local village. The poster had to include the following: reasons for joining the group, location of the meetings, and an appropriate motto.

Ms. Ammendola’s 5/6 social studies class studied Egypt. They created an amulet out of salt dough and painted it. An amulet is an ornament or small piece of jewelry thought to give protection against evil, danger, or disease.

In Mr. Nolen’s U.S. History class, students construct hands-on manipulatives to define the five themes of geography: location, place, region, movement, and human interaction. Geographers have developed these themes to show the connection between history and geography. Alexa, Daniel, Tommy, Jason, London, and Emily create layered books to summarize this information.

Mrs. Coryer’s students had a fun first couple of weeks. We had fun practicing our reading skills using Lexia. Students drew parts of a plant using shaving cream. Map skill were sharpened when we looked for our home addresses on a map. And, we ended the week with Fun Friday Centers with Ms. Stickel’s class.
