What a week it was! Eaton’s Sunshine Committee delighted our teachers and staff with a Monday through Friday extravaganza last week (April 23-28) to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week at Eaton. Spearheaded by the kind efforts of Debbie Arant, Becky Wright, and Allison Hall, many parents made financial contributions, gave items for a staff raffle, and dropped off food items.
The special week actually started last weekend when the Committee festooned areas of the school in a “Superhero” comic book theme. As teachers and staff arrived before school on Monday, they were treated to a riot of colorful decorations and life-size cartoon cutouts.
Every day of the week brought a new “event.” Monday started the week with a massive popcorn and candy bar. On Tuesday the Committee provided a sandwich and salad lunch. Wednesday saw the parents arranging for a catered superhero lunch from On the Border. The focus shifted to breakfast for Thursday with many parents contributing delicious morning delicacies. Friday was “snack bar and raffle” day. Donations were obtained from various local businesses like Bowlero and Ace Hardware.
All these festivities were the culmination of the Sunshine Committee’s fantastic generosity throughout the year. Teachers and staff were treated to several holiday themed breakfasts and lunches as well as being given gift cards and other tokens of support and appreciation.
Having the care and support of our families is extremely rewarding for everyone at Eaton. Knowing that our efforts are recognized and appreciated brings a special warmth to our teachers and staff.
