In Mr. Nolen’s United States Government class, students are learning about the functions and responsibilities of Congress. In this activity, students construct interactive graphic organizers to identify the leaders of the House of Representatives and their duties using the House’s website. Students identify the Republican and Democratic party leaders, cut out photos of the leaders, and paste these photos to graphic organizers. Inside their graphic organizers, the students list the duties of each leader. Making a foldable gives students a fast, kinesthetic activity that helps them organize and retain information. It is fun too!
