The Giver

In Ms. Hrabosky’s 9th grade English class, we just finished reading the novel The Giver. In The Giver, there is no one except Jonas and the Giver who could see color; the whole community saw things in black or white.  We celebrated ending the unit with a party, pretending we lived in Jonas’ community for the day by bringing in black and white items.  Students were asked to bring in their favorite food and/or drink items that are black and white as a treat while they studied for their test.
