The Sound of Music – Film Studies

Ms. Hrabosky, who teaches High School English classes, also teaches an elective course, Film Studies.  Every week students study a new movie, discuss its genre and story elements, watch the film,  take notes, and then complete a comprehension assessment.  This week they studied and watched the musical The Sound of Music.  As a previewing activity, the students studied the song The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music, discussed what the lyrics meant back in the 1930’s, and whether the meaning has changed over time.  Of course, they did let loose and sing!   We may have some future singers on our hands!
