Ms. Ammendola’s language arts classes are learning both the spelling of words and the meanings. They created a vocabulary set for their words in Quizlet to help them practice by playing games and taking tests. In addition, the students illustrated the words in order to maintain a mental image in their minds. For each vocabulary list, students look at the vowels and vowels sounds, which helps them break the words into syllables. They also find the base word, locate prefixes or suffixes, discuss real-life meanings, brainstorm synonyms and antonyms, and use the word according to its part of speech in a sentence.
